Tables in the View

There are several tables in the view, as documented in the following section.  Generally, tables in the view are read-only.

Each table name starts with C<nnnn>.  <nnnn> is a number that uniquely identifies your data.

Apparent Duplication of Column Information

The table structure on the MIE was designed to allow the MIE to act as the master repository of information, or to allow the MIE to act as an intermediate collection point that feeds a master repository.  As such, it must support a wide variety of potential data storage scenarios.  Therefore, you will find what appears to be duplication of column information.  For example, the MIE supports a 6 level hierarchy of specific location information as follows:

Location-Building-Floor-Room-Rack-Position

However, maintenance of such a hierarchy can be onerous, so the MIE also supports simply recording location information in text form directly in the asset record.  Both scenarios are supported.  However, one view has been designed to source information from both scenarios.  Which data field should be ignored and which should be used should be readily apparent (one will have data items in it and one will not).

This is not to be confused with duplication of records.  It is more an issue of the tables not being neatly organized into a fully normalized structure, which database purists may find objectionable.

There are several such instances of this.
